Ever seen the movie It’s a Wonderful Life? If you’re not familiar with this holiday classic starring Jimmy Stewart, it’s a tale of a man named George Bailey who hopes to one day leave his childhood town and “build things”–somehow make a difference in the world. His problem is that he fails to recognize the world of difference he is making right where he lives. Isn’t that our life-long struggle? How many of us ever achieve our “dreams”? Yet while we’re pursuing them, what opportunities do we mistake for distractions? No wonder Jesus said, “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it” (Matt. 10:39). Fortunately, Goeorge Bailey finds his life before the film is over. How about you?

it’s so crazy that what we think are attacks or distractions actually turn out to be the things we will praise God for the most; they are His most precious gifts to us…

Very true. I know I have the tendency to be so focused on my own cares and concerns that I miss out on the opportunities God brings to be a blessing to someone else or be involved in a work He is doing. I for one know I have to wake up out of the ‘me’ mentality and focus more on what He is doing around me.
God bless!
